Rūta Simutytė (LT) – Footprints
We all leave traces – signs of our presence. Technologies change, the world changes, we change. Nature changes too. Climate change is inevitable, so what we see today may disappear in a decade. This installation is an attempt to immortalize the fragile beauty of the present and the peace that nature gives us.
Using charcoal, authentic nature prints are transferred onto textiles: tree trunk textures, fallen leaves, stones, pebbles, blueberries and other organic elements. Later, these patterns are preserved with wax, giving them transparency and fragility. The sculptures become abstract, but their forms will always remind us of something familiar – maybe a snow castle, or maybe a mountain. Each viewer will see their own story – a memory, an emotion, a fragment of nature.
The light in this installation creates magic and hope, and the sculptural forms – cosmic space. Visitors are invited to explore nature and its traces, to feel the magic and peace. It is a dialogue between temporality and eternity, between a human and nature.
