Alessandro Lupi (IT) – Liquid Lens
In this installation, surface of water is transformed into a liquid lens in which waves are generated and refract three sources of light that propagate in space. Solenoid valves allow the drops to fall at different points with programmed rhythms, thus creating complex shapes, waves, colors, and interference fringes. The work is a contemplative, hypnotic exercise of perception, into which the public must subjectively immerse itself. It explores aspects of the physics of matter, understood as the interaction between light and water. The surface becoming a liquid lens makes light a vibration between brightness and shadow, a wave of presence and absence of photons and interactions between light, colors, sound, and rhythm. Water, a translucent matter that according to its shape creates hypnotic and oneiric visions, that refer to ancient archetypes, based on the most important primary sources of life, light and water.
