JAAKKO NIEMELÄ (FI) – MODEL OF AN IMAGINARY STRUCTURE
The artwork is a kinetic installation of light and shadow, a play with scale and distance. It is also a moving shadow of a future structure that is being born on a surface of an already existing building. The distorted shadow of a rotating framework is in a constant mode of change, thus seemingly moving closer and further from the spectator in an exaggerated way. Thus, the order of things is being questioned: how we see them, how they really are, and how they could be. Therefore, the “Model of an Imaginary Structure” is an illusion being explained in front of our eyes.
