D. BESNYŐ, M. KÁLMÁN, Z. CZINGÁLI (HU) – HELLER-FORGÓ
“Heller-Forgó” is a kinetic light installation that draws a hyperboloid shape in space through the circular movement of its lighting poles. Recreating the iconic form of the Heller-Forgó cooling towers at the renowned INOTA Thermal Power Plant, this installation pays tribute to the visionary work of Laszlo Heller and Laszlo Forgó engineer duo. Heller-Forgó’s revolutionary cooling tower design has transformed the efficiency of cooling systems in power plants worldwide, optimizing the use of cooling water. The scientists’ ingenuity and expertise have earned global recognition, but it was in Hungary that their achievements were truly acknowledged when their patent was sold to England. As L. Heller eloquently stated, “They laugh at it, fight it, then conclude that this is the way it should be done.” The installation reminds us that the world we perceive and interpret is often shaped by the limitations of our perceptual mechanisms and the perspectives we choose to adopt.
